Inflation

It refers to the rate of increase in the prices of goods and services in a given market. Central banks attempt to control inflation and avoid deflation in order to ensure stable economic growth. They do so by adjusting the level of interest rates. When central banks announce an interest rate hike, it often leads to the appreciation of the domestic currency. On the other hand, reducing the cost of money often results in the weakening of a particular currency.
